Setlist: Target Maui Pro, Billabong Pipe Masters
WSL
The crowds are gone. The surfers are home. But the music from the Target Maui Pro and Billabong Pipe Masters plays on, with ASP's Hawaii setlist. Soak up the sounds from the dramatic, final World Championship Tour (WCT) contests from 2014:
Interpol, All the Rage Back Home
Interpol made a splash when they arrived on the New York City music scene in 1997. With a sound akin to Joy Division and other post-punk bands, their debut album on 2002 sent them to the top of Pitchfork's favorite albums of the year, and to the Top 10 from NME, Europe's arbiter of indie cool. "All the Rage Back Home" is off their latest album, "El Pintor," released in August.
Switchfoot, "Liberty"
San Diego-based band Switchfoot is approaching its second decade, but its sound and image have evolved over the years. First picked up by a Christian rock label, the group was considered a religious-genre band. But Switchfoot -- named for the surf stance -- moved to a mainstream label in the early 2000s, eschewing the early association and becoming a tour heavyweight with remarkable longevity. In 2013, they released the surf-meets-rock-documetary, Fading West.
The Futures League, "I Wanna Go"
Los Angeles rock band The Futures League formed in 2012, and the next year were asked to headline the Quiksilver Pro France in Hossegor. Since then, they have played at festivals from Bonaroo to the Bro-Am and begun work on their first full-length album, due in 2015.
