On Thanksgiving Day, Carissa Moore (HAW) became the first Hawaiian to win the Target Maui Pro in the event's history. Moore's victory was her third of the 2014 season, with previous first-place finishes at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro and the Rip Curl Women's Pro Bells Beach.
Carissa's longtime shaper, Matt 'Mayhem' Biolos of Lost Surfboards, shared some insights on Moore and her stick for the final event of the 2014 ASP Women's World Championship Tour season.

What dimensions was Carissa riding in Honolua Bay?
Matt Biolos: She rode the same board she won Margs on, a 5'11" x 18.38" x 2.20" round tail. At Bells she rode a similar board, same rocker and tail, but it was a 5'10". They both feature her own rocker that she and I have developed together.
How long have you been working with Carissa? What challenges have you faced over that time?
MB: I have been making her boards since her last year of doing the US Nationals at Lowers [in San Clemente, Calif.]. I think she was 15, so five or six years now. The challenge is the same as with any world-class athlete: keeping her stoked and satisfying her very refined needs.
What's Carissa's biggest challenge, and the greatest joy that comes with shaping for her?
MB: I think with Carissa, her skills and ability are second to none, and with her, the challenge is usually mental. If she's feeling confident and happy, watch out: She is unbeatable. The greatest joy? Watching her win events (...and World Titles) is obviously great, but knowing her as a person and her passion for life is pretty special. My family, and all around us, just love her.
