The 2014 Billabong Pro Tahiti has finished and the swell faded, but the beat goes on. Each of the artists below were featured during ASP's broadcast from Teahupo'o, showcasing distinct sounds as a backdrop for dramatic competition.
The Sights, Sorry
Guitar-driven track is the backdrop for incredible action at the 2014 Billabong Pro Tahiti.
Detroit rockers The Sights launched in 1998 and haven't looked back. Sorry features their signature power-chords, passionate vocals, and insistent riffs. With what they describe as "raucous, infectious songwriting," one look at this five-piece band makes it clear who's having the most fun with their music.
Ash Grunwald, Walking
The Australian blues artist's guitar-driven track is the backdrop for the 2014 Billabong Pro Tahiti.
Australian artist Ash Grunwald is well known on home turf and it's no secret why: His songs have heartfelt vocals and catchy melodies for a sound familiar to fans of the Black Keys. While it's too late to catch him live Stateside this summer, Aussies can see him perform for the next few months.
Restavrant, WYK
This L.A.-based duo has a sound all its own, with a mix of American country, metal, and rock.
The duo Restavrant rocks out to the beat of their own drummer (literally). Frontman Troy Murrah and percussionist J State are based in L.A. but their Texas roots are loud and clear. Their songs seamlessly combine the slide guitar and foot-stomping found in country with metal-driven vocals for good measure. Last year they toured with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and currently have a new album in the works.
