Surfing. Tuesday, March 4, 2008. ASP Mens World Tour. Quiksilver Pro presented by LG, February 22 March 5. Snapper Rocks, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Eight times ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (Cocoa Beach, Florida, USA) (pictured) proved he is still the king of surfing by defeating reigning ASP World Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) to win the Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks today. In one of the most perfectly scripted finals, Slater posted a combination of near perfect rides to overcome Fanning at Fannings home break. Slater has now assumed the ASP World No. 1 position but remains unsure as to whether he will continue to compete on the tour in 2008.
