This inaugural event will run in conjunction with a national masters competition, and will give European longboard stars a chance to compete for both the regional crown and a spot in the World Longboarding Tour event later this season.
Set to unfold September 11 - 12 at the Plage Nord in Vieux Boucau, the festival could capitalize on early fall groundswells hitting southwest France, which would offer optimal conditions for competitors and a great show for fans.
“We at the Vieux Boucau Surf Club are really happy to welcome the only European professional longboarding event on our beaches,†said event organizer Vincent Guelfi. “Generations of longboarders were born here and the club is very proud of its strong heritage. Some of our best surfers have gone from starting here to competing on the international scene, we are stoked to welcome the whole longboarding family in September.â€

A typical village wrapped around a lake, Vieux Boucau is a year-round surfing destination. This seaside resort benefits from wide-open natural spaces, isolated and preserved between the ocean and one of the biggest forests in Europe.
“ASP Europe is excited to have the Vieux Boucau Longboard Festival add an ASP LQS event to its agenda,†said Rob Gunning, ASP Europe tour manager. “The Vieux Boucau Surf Club has a long tradition with longboarding and I think it is a perfect match to bring Europe's best longboarders to their festival.â€
