The Caraïbos Lacanau Pro will continue to build on its rich heritage this summer as it welcomes a 40th edition in August. Here's everything you need to know about the event!
What?
Charly Martin (FRA) - WSL / Laurent Masurel
The 7th stop on the 2019 European Qualifying Series, The Caraïbos Lacanau Pro returns with a QS1,500 for both men and women from August 13-18. The long list of past winners in Lacanau include the very best surfers in the world when the event was a CT, as well as Europe's best more recently as a QS.
The last two surfers to lift the prestigious Lacanau Pro trophies were young phenom Zahli Kelly and perennial threat Ramzi Boukhiam in 2018.
And because it's an anniversary edition, 40 years and counting, event organizers have promised a crazy amount of fun besides the main event, which should be reason enough to visit if you're in the area!
Where?
The Caraïbos Lacanau Pro culminates with the victories of Ramzi Boukhiam and Zahli Kelly in an exciting finish.
An hour West of Bordeaux, Lacanau is one of surfing's most iconic destination on the French coastline. Surfers come from all-over Europe and the world to get a piece of the beachbreak action up-and-down the coast and around the main city.
Tides shape perfect little banks around the jetties and waves often get epic, crowded in the center while offering solo sessions to the North and South.
