Frederico Morais pushed past Gabriel Medina in the Semifinals of the Corona Open J-Bay on the strength of his ruthless rail game. But Medina was just one of many A-listers eliminated by the European rookie. Along the way, Morais took down last year's J-Bay finalists, John John Florence and Mick Fanning, as well. And by eliminating fellow rookie Connor O'Leary in Round Three, he gained some serious ground in the Rookie of the Year race. All in all, it's been a big breakout week for Frederico.
