Gabriel Medina Enters the Fray Thanks to Jeffreys Bay

In the years following his World Championship run in 2014, Gabriel Medina has used the Corona Open J-Bay as a launching pad into Title race contention. He's made a habit of turning the event into an opportunity to shake off slow starts to the season, finishing 5th for the past three years running. After his defeat of Mick Fanning in the Quarterfinals, he secured his best-ever result at Jeffreys Bay, and will make up significant ground in the World Title chase.
