Friday, March 20 marked the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. While this means a much-needed holiday for many, pro surfers have been busy. CT surfer Nat Young (USA), Big Wave Tour charger Shawn Dollar (USA) along with Patrick and Tanner Gudauskas headed up to San Francisco to catch some NorCal bombs, Adam Melling and Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW) (pictured) tried out some new sticks and Alessa Quizon (HAW) posed for an underwater photoshoot.

March Madness, a two-week tournament among 64 US college basketball teams, kicked off March 19. Like any good sporting event, betting on the outcome ups the ante -- literally and figuratively. In the States, it's common for fans to fill out brackets, picking the winner of each matchup. But the annual tradition is called March Madness for a reason, as high-ranking teams will often lose early to lesser-known schools. Surf fans can relate: With a number of big-name eliminations at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, the majority of Fantasy Surfing team managers were in a world of hurt after Round 3. Check out the new WSL series Reality Check for the full roundup of who hurt and who helped the most.
