GRANDE PLAGE, Lacanau - France (Friday, June 28, 2013) – One of the longest standing events on the ASP tours, the traditional Soöruz Lacanau Pro returns this summer to the iconic Grande Plage of Lacanau ! As usual Europe's best under-20 surfers will start the action from August 9-12 before the WCT qualification race campaigners put on their show from August 13-18.
Last year's edition saw mind blowing performances go down in classic tubing beachbreak conditions and expectations will be high again from both the spectators and surfers perspective come August. France's large summer crowds prepare to once again enjoy a 10-day surf and music festival in the touristic Lacanau area.
The ASP 5-Star Men's Soöruz Lacanau Pro is a favorite amongst traveling International athletes and will again this year play host to some dramatic exchanges in the hunt for the coveted $20,000 Winners check and 2,000 ranking points on offer.
Rob Gunning, ASP Europe's tour manager, welcomes the confirmation of the event as a great news for all surfers across the old continent.
"The confirmation of the Soöruz Lacanau Pro adds yet another important Star event to the ASP Europe men's tour," Gunning stated. "The longest running event in Europe has seen many of the current world's best surfers in action at the Soöruz Lacanau Pro, namely Gabriel Medina, Kolohe Andino and Felipe Toledo amonhgst others. The Airwalk Pro Juniors will also be huge events where traditionally we have seen an excellent mix of international and European surfers."
The Sooruz Lacanau Pro is made possible with the support of the following event partners: Soöruz, Airwalk, Ice Watches, NRJ, Red Bull, Carlsberg and Smurfit amongst others.
