Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America has confirmed the addition of three new events to the regional calendar, with the WRV Outer Banks Pro presented by Pacifico and Hurley, Pacifico Belmar Pro and Shoe City Pro in Huntington Beach added for 2014.
The ASP 2-Star WRV Outer Banks Pro will be the first of the three new events anchored off of the Vans Pro at ECSC, unfolding at Jennette's Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina from August 27 through 31.
“Having three new events at the 1 and 2 Star level offers aspiring local talent the chance to gain points to eventually compete on the international platform,†Meg Bernardo, ASP North America General Manager said. “These events are crucial to our region and help to establish a new base for budding talent.â€
The next East Coast stop will follow shortly after, with the 1-Star Pacifico Belmar Pro kicking off in Belmar, New Jersey from September 11 through 14. The Belmar Pro has been a staple East Coast event for a decade and will join the ASP QS calendar as a 1-Star this season. Newly sanctioned ASP events on the East Coast will feature the likes of past ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) talent and defending Belmar Pro Champion [Ben Bourgeois](@@athlete: (Wrightsville Beach, NC).

“It's great to have these events come back again this year,†Bourgeois said. “I don't compete that much at all but when these events are so close to home I love to do them. For me there is no stress, I just like to throw the jersey back on and surf a few heats. It's also nice to see some of the younger guys surf in person and see where the level is. Looking forward to it and I know a lot of other east coasters are too. Pray for surf!â€
Punctuating the new regional events will be the 1-Star Shoe City Pro at Huntington Beach Pier from September 29 through October 4.
“The Shoe City Pro gives the opportunity for the local ripper, super grom, QS warrior or past World Champ to have some fun, make a few bucks and enjoy surfing an ASP event here at home,†said Scott Waring, Shoe City Pro Event Organizer.
