Iconic Jack's Surfboards in Huntington Beach keeps QS Thriving

In 2017, with the help of event director Scott Waring, Jack's Surfboards kept QS competition in Huntington Beach starting with a men's QS 1,000. Then, the 2021 event helped provide the stepping stone toward the maiden Challenger Series with now-reigning WSL Champion Caitlin Simmers (USA) and CT veteran Nat Young (USA) taking wins.

The likes of 2024 CT Rookies of the Year Sawyer Lindblad (USA) and Crosby Colapinto (USA), former CTers Keanu Asing (HAW) and Lucca Mesinas (PER), and current North America No. 1 Kirra Pinkerton (USA) have all claimed victory in this event's history with 2025 set for more.

"We're thrilled to kick off the 2025/26 season with the Jacks Pro, and even more excited to host it right here in our hometown of Huntington Beach. It's a fantastic opportunity to support the young, up-and-coming surfers from our region," Jack's Surfboards co-owner Jamal Abdelmuti said. "This year marks our 8th edition of the Jacks Pro, and thanks to our incredible partners in the surf industry, the event continues to grow and evolve. We're proud to welcome 805 back as the presenting sponsor, and we're committed to making this year bigger and better than ever. Plus, we'll once again be launching the week with the West Coast Boardriders event to get everyone fired up!"

New Points System takes effect for 2025/2026 QS season

This event marks the start of WSL's updated point system for the QS in North America. The new system updates the previous QS 1,000, QS 3,000, and QS 5,000 to a QS 2,000, QS 4,000, and QS 6,000. WSL announced this update as a goal to create more competitive sustainability that benefits both athletes and event partners. This narrows the point disparity from five times to three times between the lowest and highest-tier events.
