The first-ever Championship Tour event in the deserts of Abu Dhabi is wrapped with Caitlin Simmers and Italo Ferreira taking massive wins and grabbing hold of the yellow leader jerseys. Simmers' undeniable form included an event-best 9.57 in the Semifinals before a blow-for-blow Final with now-perennial World Title contender Molly Picklum that ended in a nail-biter. Ferreira saved the best for last and laid down a 17.27 heat total in the Final over Rio Waida to claim his 10th CT victory. Now, the deserts of oasis of Abu Dhabi fades to a mirage with the world's best returning to action at the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal starting March 15 through 25.
