Pre-Comp Swell Lights Up Honolua Bay ... And There's More Solid Surf On The Way

In the days leading up the start of the Maui Pro presented by ROXY the first significant swell of the Hawaiian winter season bombarded the Valley Isle. On the north shore, Jaws roared to life, and around the bend, Honolua Bay gave the Championship Tour's best an opportunity to get in some laps in at the idyllic right point.
The juice was loose as hard-charging Tour stalwart Courtney Conlogue copped a broken nose and 14 stitches in one of her warm-up sessions. Others were more fortunate. Rookie Isabella Nichols threaded some beautiful waves, letting everyone know she's definitely CT ready. It looks like the Pacific is going to keep rolling in at Honolua. After three initial lay days, the forecast is looking prime for Monday and Tuesday, with overhead-plus surf and clean conditions on tap for the start of the week.
"Assuming this storm behaves close to model guidance in the next day we should see surf running in the overhead to double overhead range on Monday with good to excellent quality thanks to the swell direction and offshore wind. Swell should trend down into Tuesday but remain overhead," reports Kevin Wallis and the forecast team at Surfline.
There's also a good chance that the Billabong Pipe Masters presented by Hydro Flask could run concurrently on Tuesday as the waiting period for the 50th running of the prestigious event kicks off on December 8.
