After stops in Australia, Spain and the United States, the 2019 Women's World Longboard title will be decided at Jinzun Harbour, Taiwan. This is the first year the Longboard Tour has had four stops, and the change had really set the scene for a dramatic finish.
Brazil's Chloe Calmon and Hawaii's Honolua Blomfield - the 2017 World Champion - will both be coming in looking to seal the deal. But, mathematically, there's still a wide field of athletes with a chance of being crowned the best in the world.
Chloe Calmon and Justin Quintal claim the 2019 Longboard Classic Galicia in epic fashion on Finals Day.
Here's how it needs to play out for each of these athletes:
- Calmon needs to beat Honolua Blomfield by a place;
- But if Calmon gets a 5th then only Blomfield can beat her;
- If Calmon was to get a first round loss, then up to eleven others can beat her.
Honolua Blomfield - WSL / Cait Miers
Blomfield recently defeated Calmon at the Longboard Classic New York final to take the competition win.
But Calmon has been the one to beat this year, securing victories at the Noosa Longboard Open and at the Galicia Longboard Classic in Spain. To lock down both of these wins, she took out Blomfield in the finals.
The waves at Jinzun Harbour have been compared to the Southern Californian surfing mecca of Trestles. Breaking over a cobblestone bottom and with consistent swell, the a-frame peaks provide the ideal venue for some styled-out logging.
