Many of the World Surf League (WSL) Men's Qualifying Series (QS) packed up their bags and headed down from Virginia Beach to the famed stretch of coastline known as the Outer Banks in North Carolina to join the Women's QS contingent. The WRV Outer Banks Pro pres. by Pacifico and Sanuk awaits with a promising forecast to start things off August 28 - September 1. A live broadcast will showcase the event around the world through www.WorldSurfLeague.com and the WSL App throughout the event window.
This marks the sixth-consecutive event held at Jennette's Pier in an event that's seen every type of condition from maxing, victory-at-sea to a full day of perfect barrels and the contingent have risen to the occasion each year.
Pulga Looks For Back-to-Back OBX Wins

The men's defending event winner Renan Peres Pulga is back once more alongside 2017 winner, and fellow Brasilian, Gabriel Farias. The Brasilian's always have a big presence in the Outer Banks going back to the event's start and has only grown each year. Pulga's victory over Chauncey Robinson marked their dominance of the event two years running and with their compatriots Pedro Neves, Kim Matheus and Rodrigo Saldanha in attendance they will have a strong contingent once more.
"I'm really stoked to be back, last year was a dream that came true," Pulga said. "That was the best day of my life and I will never forget it. It would epic to go back-to-back, I'm really trying to do it again. I just can't wait to surf some real waves here in Outer Banks. I really like them here and the water is always warm which is so good."

Pulga is also joined by fellow former event winner Kilian Garland as both look to join a very short list of competitors to win two events at the WRV Outer Banks Pro.
Turko: One of Outer Banks' Own Is Ready
Last year's smaller conditions were no problem for Turko as he steamed through early rounds at an all-too familiar break. - WSL / John Ferguson
Outer Banks native Quentin Turko comes back home after making it to Round 3 of the Vans Pro Virginia Beach, VA QS 3,000 and earning some respectable points as he now turns his attention to Jennette's Pier. Turko already has a win under his belt in 2019 at the pier after helping Secret Spot surf shop claim the Oakley Shop Challenge just weeks ago. But, the stakes are higher on the QS with a formidable field of four previous event winners and a collection of QS threats in attendance.
"It's such a good feeling coming back home after making some heats in Virginia Beach and I definitely feel like I've got a lot more confidence coming into this event," Turko said. "I had a pretty hard loss in the last thirty seconds so I'm going to use that to motivate me in the Outer Banks Pro. My excitement level is through the roof, this swell is what everyone needed. I don't think a local has ever won the contest so it would be insane to win it out here in front of everyone, that would mean so much to me."

Barbadian Trio Search For Redemption Results
Che Allan will have his fingers crossed for more visions like this in the next few days. - WSL / John Ferguson
The Barbados' contingent have always had a great presence on the East Coast with events easy to get to and have the opportunity maximize the potential 4,000 total points on offer between Virginia Beach and Outer Banks. For Josh Burke, this event become a vital one in his hopes of jumping back into the Top 100 once more after dealing with a tough injury that's removed him months of competition and earning an equal 25th in Virginia Beach. Burke is joined by Che Allan and Caleb Rapson, this being Rapson's first appearance, as all three hope to gain ground after early exits last week.
"It's always great to be here in OBX, we seem to get fun waves every time I come even though I would've liked to be considered for an injury wildcard into the Pantin event after being out for three months and losing my seeding," Burke said. "I would need to win here for it to really help my cause which is always the goal but I'm just stoked to surf some more heats. I love competing so it's great to go straight into another event."
