Mick Fanning has officially cemented himself as one of the best all-time surfers at Bells Beach, claiming his third Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach title with a Final's win over compatriot Taj Burrow at nearby Winkipop.
The importance of a long-lasting relationship between athlete and shaper cannot be overstated enough, and Fanning has worked with his shaper, Darren 'DHD' Handley, for over 21 years. The results have been staggering, Fanning having just added a 17th elite tour win with his Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach victory to his dozens of accolades including three WSL World Titles.

"I'm really very fortunate to have had the relationship I've had with Darren for so many years. His talent, craftsmanship and support are what have gotten me to where I am today. He has a great range of boards at the moment. I was trying the Skeleton Key earlier this week at smaller Winki and it felt great. However, the board I've been riding in the comp has been the Duck's Nuts. It's my go-to for when we have waves and felt really good all event." - Mick Fanning
"Very happy for Mick. The board is a 5'11" x 18 3/4" x 2 1/4" Duck's Nuts with a volume of 26.26 litres. It's a copy of the board that he won France on last year. It's single double concave with a 2 1/2" tail lift. Glassed with 4x4 oz and carbon tail patch. Weighs approximately 2.17 kg. Great win." - Darren "DHD" Handley
