The Junior Pro 40 will welcome Europe's best under-18 surfers back in Les Landes from July 17-21, 2019.
WSL has just announced the addition of the Quiksilver and Roxy Junior Pro 40 to its European junior series. Here's everything you need to know!
What?
The Quiksilver and Roxy Junior Pro 40 will be Stop No. 4 on the European Junior Qualifying Series and the second-to-last stop for the 2019 season. The region's best under-18 surfers have already competed in Portugal twice and more recently in La Torche, and the title and qualifying races couldn't be tighter!

In the men's field, France's Kauli Vaast and Justin Becret have been battling head-to-head with event wins, runner-ups and third places and sit within 200 points of each other. Vaast may have the advantage right now, but Becret is a Hossegor local and knows the waves around here probably better than anyone on tour.
Tiago Carrique, Selyann Zouhir and a few others still have an outside chance at first place but will most likely fight for the third qualifying spot for the World Junior Championship when the dust settles on the European junior title race.

In the women's, Portugal's up-and-comer Mafalda Lopes has taken a slightly larger lead in the rankings over Ellie Turner but the race is far from over with two events remaining on the schedule.
Roxy girl Juliette Lacome will have a unique chance to bounce back from a deceiving start in 2019 and with two massive results in the remaining events could even throw her name in the mix for a potential world juniors ticket.

Where?
The Santocha beach in Capbreton. You might have never heard the name but the sights of perfect barrels and war-built blockhouses in the distance is familiar to surfers all over the planet.

The beach has always hosted events, specifically junior events, and as such some of the best surfers in the world have competed here. The likes of Taj Burrow, John John Florence or Gabriel Medina have all surfed the white-sand perfect A-frames it can deliver.
But it is most notably the beach that revealed Jeremy Flores's talent to the world: "This is the event that first put me on the map," the former event winner said. "It's a legendary contest, all the best kids in the world have surfed here."
