A solid contingent of WSL Qualifying Series (QS) campaigners have arrived in South Sumatra, Indonesia for the Krui Pro. The QS3,000 rated men's and QS1,000 women's event is all set to start today in absolutely picture perfect surf. The competition is run at Ujung Bocur, a 150 meter long left handed reef break, that offers sections for tube rides, big turns and aerials.
150 competitors came from far and wide to have come to compete for all-important QS points and to test themselves in the epic surf that Sumatra has to offer. Argentina, Australia, Basque Country, Brazil, Canary Islands, Chile, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Uruguay, USA and of course an impressive field of Indonesians.

"It's fantastic to be back in South Sumatra for the Krui Pro," said Contest Director Will Hayden-Smith. "This event has grown and gotten bigger and better every year. I have had a lot of competitors tell me that they've seen the amazing waves on the WSL broadcast over the last two years and they couldn't wait to come here. Thanks to the Indonesian Government, Bupati Dr. Agus Istiqlal, and the locals here on the West Coast of the Lampung Province for supporting surfing here."
Minister of Tourism's advisor, Indroyono Soesilo was thrilled to see so many International competitors arrive in Lampung, Sumatra for Indonesia's first ever QS3,000.
"This is the third Krui Pro - we started with a QS1,000, then upgraded to QS1,500 last year and now we are proud to have a QS3,000," Mr Indriono Soesilo said. "I hope that surf fans all over the world are watching and enjoying the waves and surfing on display here in Pesisir Barat - Lampung province."
