The Cabreiroá Las Americas Pro Tenerife continues as the women power through Round 3 to decide Quarterfinalists.

The QS1,500 Cabreiroá Las Americas Pro Tenerife continued with excellent conditions gracing a third day of action in Tenerife. Waves in the three-to-five foot range gave athletes plenty of opportunities to score big in the opening three rounds of competition- deciding the event's Quarterfinalists.

The day started with an incredible clinic by young Israeli surfer Anat Lelior who belted a near-perfect 9.33 and backed it up with an 8.33. The goofy foot absolutely destroyed the best waves of her heat and showed power, variety and progression with fin drifts above the lip among other fancy moves. Runner-up in the European junior series last year, Lelior will take on the QS this season and already looks like a potential future star of the region.

"I love the challenge of competing and I'm super happy to see such a good level here," she said. "I've been watching the men a lot and I noticed the big combos were what got the best scores so that's what I went for and it worked well in Round 1. I'm just so happy to finally get some good waves alone out there cause the free surfs are crazy busy."

In Round 2, she found a big hurdle on her path to a second consecutive heat win in Frankie Harrer. Both surfers went head-to-head in an exciting matchup and the German's flair on the long lefts got the nod from the judges, taking the win with Lelior advancing in second.

"This is my first contest of the year so I felt a little bit nervous," Harrer explained. "But the waves are so good those nerves just went away, this is probably one of the best QS I've surfed in a very long time. I have a busy year ahead with the events, some filming and trips and I want to try to qualify for the Olympics via the ISA. It's a really great way to start the year here in excellent waves, and I'd really like to come back to the Canary Islands and see more."

Runner-up last year in Tenerife, Pauline Ado started strong as well with a dominant effort in Round 2, putting together nice combinations of backhand gauges for her own excellent scores.

"It's such a pleasure to compete in conditions like these," she said. "We didn't get a lot of free surf so it was nice to finally get out there and surf. There's a really strong level here, including some of the younger girls coming up, so it's going to be a tough event but I'd love to go one better than last year and win it!"

In a much slower lineup this afternoon, the long time CT surfer couldn't unfortunately find the right waves and placed third behind Harrer and an in form Tessa Thyssen who took the win.

The ocean woke right back up in the following heat and pulsed plenty of sets for local Tenerife surfer Daniela Boldini to light up the crowds with total commitment. The Canarian athlete put two excellent 8+ rides on her scoreboard and took the win ahead of Lelior who once again posted a 9.33 for her powerful carves.

"I'm super happy to get through to the quarters and I can't wait for the next heat!" an ecstatic Boldini said. "It's really special to have everyone supporting me, my family, my friends and my sponsors right here on the beach cheering me on."

The remaining heats of Round 3 saw the surprise elimination of Rachel Presti, and usual suspects Carol Henrique, Nadia Erostarbe, Leticia Canales Bilbao and Juliette Lacome advanced into the Quarters.

Surfers and event officials will be back at 9:30 a.m to reassess conditions and potentially resume competition in expected good conditions.
