Stop No. 2 of the European Qualifying Series, the Cabreiroá Las Americas Pro Tenerife brings the region's best surfers to the Canary Islands from February 4-10.
The second edition of the Las Americas Pro Tenerife comes back next week from February 4-10, 2019 in Tenerife, Canary Islands. Find out all you need to know about this event below!
What?
The second stop on the World Surf League (WSL) European Qualifying Series (QS) will offer 1,500 ranking points to the men and women's winners of the event. The event comes back following a successful first edition last year in fun surf that saw Ruben Vitoria and Mikaela Greene take the wins.
The 2019 season is well underway with events already completed in Israel, Florida and Australia offering the first few points and prize money to kick off a full year on the Qualifying Series.
Surfers will want to carry momentum from their 2018 efforts or on the contrary start with a blank page to write their story this season. And it's not minor points on the line either as nearly all surfers qualifying for the Championship Tour last year did so with a result under 1,500 points counting.

For Europeans in particular, the regional title race that launched in Netanya earlier this month will continue for the men and mark the women's first event of the year. Far in sight but already in the discussion is the coveted European Champion titles.
Where?
The Canary Islands is an archipelago of seven main islands sitting roughly 100km out West of the Moroccan coastline in the Atlantic Ocean. A volcanic paradise for surfers who flock there during the European winter to find warmer waters and powerful reef break waves to train during the off season.

The wave at Las Americas is mainly a left, which can offer a long wall in relatively shallow waters, perfect for progressive surfing. On smaller days, the short right will provide ramps to go above the lip and score big, but the inside is a mine field of sorts with rocks popping up everywhere.
