India Robinson has claimed her maiden WSL Qualifying Series win at the Phillip Island Pro pres by Bass Coast Shire today beating Sophia Fulton in perfect surf at the Penguin Parade.

Robinson was in fine form all event consistently scoring in the excellent range on the speedy right hand waves on offer.
"I'm so excited and overwhelmed, " said Robinson. "I had an absolute dream heat finding the best waves and my boards felt great."

After a strong start to the year with a Quarter Final finish at the highly rated Florida Pro, Robinson set her sights for an event win and was able to do it in her home state in front of family and friends.
"Its incredible to win so close to home and be staying with close friends on Phillip Island. The support I got was amazing. I'm looking forward to competing at Port Stephens next week and have a lot more confidence after this heat win."

Robinson amassed a heat total of 18.05 (out of a possible 20) in the opening half of the heat making the task of winning insurmountable. Fulton finished the final on a heat total of 11.20 points.
"I'm stoked to have made the final," said Fulton. "The waves were super fun and I will take a heap of confidence out of this going into the next comp. The waves were heaps of fun out there today it was nice to get some clean right handers."

India Robinson will now move up two spots on the World Surf League QS rankings to 24 going into the final event of the season at Port Stephens.
The Men's Quarter Finals were also completed with Jordan Lawler, Morgan Cibilic, Kehu Butler and Sandon Whittaker all claiming spots in the Semifinals.

The event is expected to shift location tomorrow with the swell decreasing overnight. A call will be made for all divisions at 8:00am for a possible 8:30am start at Cape Woolamai.
