The Junior Pro Biscarrosse launches with quality action in wind-affected peaks.
The Junior Pro Biscarrosse launched today in fun three foot peaks with moderate onshore wind. It was a change of scenery from last week's solid surf up North and surfers were anxious to re-ignite the battles that unfolded in La Torche.
The women's opening round was launched at the best tide early this afternoon and surfers made sure to put on a great show in the bowling lefts and rights of Bisca.
Anat Lelior started in Heat 1 and quickly set the scale for the judge's appreciation of the surfers' skills. She started on a little left bowl and pushed her rail in twice with good carves on her forehand to post a 7.17 and ultimately take the win.

"My current lead is definitely not enough to feel safe so I really want to keep winning heats," she said. "I got older, I think that's the main difference and what makes me more consistent. I'm starting to understand some things I didn't before and my results are showing so I'm really happy about this. I have a great coach with me too and my boards work well."
Neis Lartigue came in fired up in Heat 3 and pushed the performance bar even further with a long right all the way to the inside. The French surfer dismantled every section of the wave with smooth but radical turns and turned in an excellent 8.50, the highest score of the men and women's events today.
Neis Lartigue is hungry for a second junior win and looked deadly today. - WSL / Laurent Masurel
"I saw that wave coming and I knew it was a good one," she said. "Another surfer had priority but she went left so I took it. I had a lot of fun in that heat, some waves weren't that easy to read but overall we were lucky to go out at that time of the day. This could be my very last event as a junior so I really want to win it and finish it off with a bang!"
Morocco's Selyann Zouhir was the closest to equal Lartigue's performance but came up just short with an excellent 8.00 wave. His back up of 6.73 did however make the best total of Day 1. The 15 year-old from Casablanca chose to mainly stick to the lefts and navigated several long waves with impeccable flow.
Kike Suarez could also be an underdog in Bisca. - WSL / Laurent Masurel
"I took plenty of lefts and also a little right," he said. "I got two decent scores early on and then waited for the good ones, which eventually came to me. Last year was really tough here so I'm stoked with the waves today. I've never made it past Round Three so that's my main goal. I have two more seasons after this one so no pressure anyway."
Kika Suarez had previously started the men's second round with a great display to rack up a 12.56 heat total and advance into Round Three.
Event officials and surfers will come back early again on Day 2 with a call at 7 a.m Thursday.
