If Geiselman hadn't already made a name for himself on the Qualifying Series (QS) grind, taking out the then World No. 3 Matt Wilkinson certainly helped.
When it comes to Championship Tour (CT) qualification near-misses, there are a few names one can ponder on. But, there is one that the East Coast, and even a mass of the surfing world, knows all too well -- Evan Geiselman. He's shown glimpses of absolute brilliance and that he could go toe-to-toe with some of the world's best as a wildcard at Trestles, and with multiple Qualifying Series (QS) wins.
Geiselman currently sits at No. 5 on the QS rankings following the all-important Australian leg of QS 6,000 events, earning an equal third at the Burton Automotive Pro, and is on his way to defending his title at this week's Ron Jon Quiksilver Pro QS 1,000 with jaw-dropping performances today -- earning five excellent scores on Saturday.

"It's all about finding that rhythm coming into any event and after winning the [Florida Pro] QS 1,500 to start the year I went in to Australia with a lot of confidence," Geiselman said. "I wasnt' second guessing myself and to come away with a Semifinal there was incredible. Now it's straight back into this one and then the Caribbean so I'm just keeping that momentum going."
The 24-year-old Floridian has a lock on East Coast events, boasting three wins in two states (Virginia and Florida), but knows all too well that wins are a thing of the past and his concentration remains on the present. Geiselman's 17.50 Round Four heat total and 17.33 heat total rank among two of the Top 5 so far in Cocoa Beach as he steams towards a fourth East Coast event title.

"These East Coast events definitely mean a lot to me and I just hope we keep doing this, and building them bigger," Geiselman said. "That's always a goal for these younger guys and me as well to see happen. [When it comes time to compete] it's always a goal to be here on the last day with a chance to win it."
Finals day of the Ron Jon Quiksilver Pro, as well as the Ron Jon Quiksilver Junior Pro and Ron Jon Roxy Junior Pro are set for Sunday morning.
