North Shore local Josh Moniz breaks down Haleiwa, home to the first stop of the Vans Triple Crown. With a large family pool of talent behind him, Moniz is no stranger to the tricky conditions on offer at the Hawaiian Pro. All Qualifying Series grinders have to get passed Haleiwa in order to qualify for the Championship Tour and it's pretty obvious that in order to do well, you have to spend a considerable amount of time in the lineup. Located down the point on the North Shore, Haleiwa's non-threatening high performance waves make it the perfect location for dark horses to emerge.
