The battle was one of the best this year, as each pushed the other higher, faster, and harder at Lower Trestles. For Gilmore, who arrived in San Clemente at World No. 4, the loss was a dent in what could have been a run-up to real Title contention. But for Lima, it was a proud moment of victory that, as her best CT result this year, confirmed her standing among the Top 17 and showcased the type of innovative, edge-of-your-seat surfing of which she's capable.
