In a power-packed battle of heavy-footed haymakers, rookie Zeke Lau defeated Conner Coffin in a Round Two TKO in what was arguably the best match of the round. Featuring a ridiculously high average wave score of 8.70, Lau and Coffin traded blows like a couple of Golden Glove title contenders. "I told myself to just feel it, be in rhythm," said Lau, "I just relaxed and didn't worry too much about what he was doing. It's a good win to build my confidence, I knew what Conner was capable of, so I pretty much had to surf a perfect heat."
Lau carried his momentum into Round Three, where he won another big battle with World No. 4 Kolohe Andino, the runner-up at Margaret River. The proud Hawaiian seems to be getting much more comfortable with each heat, making him a huge threat as the season progresses.
