The first-ever finals day of a Qualifying Series (QS) on Barbadian shores is locked in with a stacked Quarterfinal draw to determine who will be crowned at the Barbados Surf Pro QS3,000
A massive day of men's action completed Rounds Four and Five that locked in a historic finals day set for tomorrow at the first-ever Barbados Surf Pro Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000. While some of the event standouts were lost, QS elite, and a few fresh faces, stepped up to solidify their spot into stacked Quarterfinal draws on offer.
Sydney, Australia's Shane Campbell ripped apart a heavyweight Round Five matchup with top QS performer Bino Lopes, and two of the event's standouts Mateus Herdy and Peterson Crisanto. Campbell has his goals set for 2017 and a big result here would put him on track to attain them, but now must endure a big finals day at Drill Hall Beach.

"I saw that heat before I went in and every one of them is stacked here, you look at who's left and there hasn't been an easy heat all event -- I was looking forward to it actually," Campbell said. "After my Round Four heat I told myself I wanted to get above a sixteen-point heat total because I knew that's what it takes to win these later rounds. I want to be in a good spot for the mid-year reseeding and this would be a great result to make a push for that so I can't wait for tomorrow."

Rafael Teixeira continued to impress at Drill Hall Beach with two brilliant performances in Round Four and Five. Teixeira got his day started with a massive 17.00 total on his forehand attack and showed that confidence in Round Five to earn a near-perfect 9.57. After his maiden win last year in Acapulco, the Brazilian now looks for a bigger prize tomorrow.
"I trained really hard to make heats back at home in conditions like this and I feel really prepared to get a result here," Teixeira said. "Last week in Martinique I lost in the Quarterfinals, but now I want a Final. I was feeling super comfortable this morning and just want to do my best. I'm really focused and this has been my dream, but the ultimate goal is the CT so this is a big event for me."

Nomme Mignot finished off Round Five with an electric performance over a massive heat including yesterday's near-perfect surfer Evan Geiselman, Round Four standout Flavio Nakagima and the powerful Weslley Dantas. Mignot's strong forehand outmatched that of runner-up Geiselman as both advance to tomorrow's Quarterfinals -- the first finals day of Mignot's 2017 and one he doesn't want to go to waste.
"It feels so good to be in the finals day again after over a year of waiting and to make it a QS3,000 is an amazing feeling," Mignot said. "I feel much more comfortable to only have one other guy out there instead of hassling with four guys who all rip. I know I can do well if I just stay positive and just surf as good as I can, but it will come down to who can find the best waves and just perform."
While Keanu Asing earned a runner-up in Round Five, he's never to be overlooked. - WSL / Andrew Nichols
Keanu Asing is no stranger to finals day, having already won a QS event this year, but 3,000 points will be a keeper moving forward to keep his top seed later this year. The Hawaiian has his blinders on at this event and wants nothing less than a win after earning a runner-up behind local Barbadian Josh Burke in Round Five.
"It's tough out there, everyone knows how to surf these trickier waves really well and you just have to be smart," Asing said. "I made a lot of mistakes just giving the other guys some opportunities when I shouldn't have and I wasn't too stoked with my performance there, but the best is yet to come from me. The guy who wins out here is the one who makes the
