Boomerang Beach will become a playground for some of the world's best surfers when the Komunity Project Great Lakes Pro presented. by Rockstar Energy Drink kicks offtomorrow.
The elite five-day World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 1000 rated competition - which will form the third of four QS events on the Vissla NSW Pro Surf Series - will take place from 7 - 11 February, 2017.
Over 200 male and female surfers will compete in the event, which will see over 18 different countries represented across both divisions.
2016 Quiksilver Pro France Champion and former WSL World Championship Tour surfer Keanu Asing (Hawaii) is eagerly awaiting the start of the event and getting his 2017 Qualifying Series campaign underway.
"I'm really looking forward to starting my year off in Australia at the Komunity Project Great Lakes Pro," said Asing. "The level of surfing in the WSL rated 1000 events is extremely tough. It's going to be a great event, surfing these high-performance beach breaks with these high-level competitors. I feel like I have something to prove this year and I'm really looking forward to kicking it all off in event three of the Vissla NSW Pro Surf Series."
