The carnage continued for tour front-runners at the Hurley Pro, and the title race just got a lot more interesting. John John Florence and Gabriel Medina were both eliminated in Round Three during back-to-back heats at Lowers. Florence fell to Hurley teammate Brett Simpson, after Simpson took early control. Medina was eliminated in a much tighter (and controversial) match with local wildcard Tanner Gudauskas. With the Top 3 surfers all out, the race for the world title is wide open, leaving room for fireworks at Trestles.
