The music and surfing festival returns in March.
Following a successful inaugural edition last year, the iconic coastal town South of Lisbon prepares to host the return of the Caparica Junior Pro a World Surf League men and women's Junior Qualifying Series event.
Caparica will launch the 2016 European Junior tour, showcasing a new format of competitors aged 18 years old or younger who will battle across the Old Continent for their chance to represent the region at a World Junior Championship final in early 2017.
Last year, Miguel Blanco (PRT), 20, and Teresa Bonvalot (PRT), 16, took top honors on finals day in Caparica, surpassing their competition in clean two-to-three foot waves. Comes March 2016, while Blanco has graduated to the Qualifying Series tour, Bonvalot will have a chance to defend her title and fly the Portuguese flag high again on home soil.

The talent level in Europe's youngest surfers has increased in recent years, proving to rival with the best in the World, and demonstrating so at the Ericeira World Junior Championships a few weeks ago. The new guard will now look to follow in their seniors footsteps to claim their rightful place in the professional surfing world.
"WSL is excited to return to Costa de Caparica with our opening event of the JQS season in Europe," Rob Gunning, European Tour Manager stated. "With Portugal surfing coming through very strongly on the international scene this event will highlight the up-and-coming future champions of the sport."
The Caparica Primavera Surf Fest is a complete surf and music festival, gathering hundreds of surfers, professional and amateurs alike for a series of local and national events leading up to the World Surf League JQS stop, as well as thousands of beach and music enthusiasts for a week full of musical entertainment.
"We're happy to welcome all the Portuguese and European surfers to this year's Caparica Primavera Surf Fest," Antonio Guimaraes, organizer of the event said. "We're gearing up for an exciting 10 days of sports, parties and concerts including DJs, a Surf Film Fest and 12 sporting events covering surfing, SUP, longboard, wind and kitesurf, bodyboard and bodysurf. Caparica has some 15km of sandy beaches with multiple peaks to suit everyone's taste and abilities, so make sure you come enjoy the first days of Spring with us!"
