Second Lay Day at Quiksilver Pro Casablanca
WSL
A second lay day has been called at the inaugural Royal Moroccan Surfing Federation presents Quiksilver Pro Casablanca at Anfaplace. The new push in swell expected throughout the afternoon didn't allow competition to start on Wednesday, but competitors put on a show during two heats of an expression session for the Moroccan crowds.
Redouane Regragui (MAR), took out the first heat of the expression session with an impressive air reverse on his forehand. The young Moroccan took full advantage of every inch of water available on a clean little righthander to launch his aerial maneuver. With a wildcard awarded by Quiksilver in this event, Regragui will surf in the Round of 64 and matchup with good friend and role model Ramzi Boukhiam (MAR) when the event commences.
"It's going to be my first QS event and I'm super happy, I can't thank Quiksilver enough for giving me this opportunity with the wildcard," Regragui said. "It's good to see the competitors and the level they're at. I will do everything to try to win this event, I'm training with my brother and he's coaching me. I just want to show what I'm capable of."
In the second heat Boukhiam was joined by Marc Lacomare (FRA), Vicente Romero (ESP) and Dimitri Ouvre (BLM) amongst others and continued to entertain the crowded beach at Anfaplace Shopping Center.
Surf Report, official forecaster of the Quiksilver Pro Casablanca, announces a solid swell building throughout Thursday to culminate with four-to-six foot faces and moderate onshore winds.
Surfers and organizers will reconvene at 8AM on Thursday for a potential early start of the opening round of 96.
