Top seeds enter the show in Round 4 of the Soöruz Lacanau Pro on Saturday.
With the event's top seeds coming into play in Round 4 of the Soöruz Lacanau Pro, the day was filled with drama, great performances and upsets as hungry QS campaigners ousted some of the event favorites.
Deivid Silva (BRA) 20, collected the day's highest combined heat total of 15.17, with two good waves surfed on his backhand in Heat 3. The talented Brazilian, who has been on an upward trajectory on the QS for the past four years, currently sits right outside of the top 50 and will look to advance through a few more rounds in Lacanau to build on his current season tally.

"I got a couple good scores and am stoked to win my first heat," Silva said. "Waves were small but really fun, perfect little peelers so I'm happy I got a couple. There's room for good turns on your backhand and hopefully it will just keep getting better."
Former Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour competitor Mitch Crews (AUS) 25, followed in Silva's footsteps to win the very next heat and advance into the final day of action in Lacanau.

"It's been really fun early this morning but it became pretty small, which is a shame cause the forecast was showing an improvement from yesterday," Crews said. "Everyone has to surf the same conditions, you just have to make sure you surf better in all sorts of waves. I love Lacanau, I've been coming here for a few years when it was a 5 and 6-stars and I actually got second one year. This week I've been golfing with my friend and chilling and we've ventured way down the beach to find a little bank, yeah I love it here."
Event No. 1 seed Joan Duru (FRA) 26, wasted no time and launched an assault on the tiny conditions to make his way into the last 32 surfers in contention. In an excellent position at the halfway mark in 2015, Duru looks at the French leg as a confidence builder and warm-up towards the two main QS 10,000 coming up in Europe.

"Priorities play a big role in these conditions and you have to make sure you catch a set and get a backup," Duru explained. "A big result here could definitely help my rankings but mainly just boost my confidence. I'm pretty relaxed in smaller events but I still want to try to win every time."
Marc Lacomare (FRA) 25, currently inside the top 50 on the international QS rankings, advanced through his opening Round 4 matchup against compatriot Aldric God and South Africans Slade Prestwich and David Van Zyl.
"I had a freesurf just before and figured out what waves I wanted to be on and I knew if I didn't make any mistakes I could get this one," Lacomare reflected. "My main focus is the bigger events but I like to prepare exactly the same, this is a great warm up and I tried to be relaxed and surf smart. I've been third a couple times here in Lacanau both in the Junior and main event so I'd really like to win this one."
Event officials have set a final call on Sunday at 8AM for the last day of competition, crowning the 2015 Soöruz Lacanau Pro champion.
