The city of Anglet and the World Surf League have been forced to cancel the 2015 edition of the YNTHT Surf De Nuit pres. by SoWest Cola
Meteo France, the French national weather forecaster, has declared a Yellow Alert for big swells and strong wind gusts Friday, forcing event organizers in Anglet to call off the 2015 Surf de Nuit.
"It's with immense regrets that we had to call off the YNTHT Surf De Nuit pres. by SoWest Cola," said Guillaume Cazet, representative for the Tourism Office of Anglet. "Weather conditions today feel November-like and we couldn't possibly host the event in a safe environment for both the competitors and the public.
"We're deeply sorry for our partners with whom we've had the pleasure to work with: Philips, SoWest Cola but also everyone else who made possible for Franck Perez to shape the incredible lumiboards like AtuaCores and FCS II.
"We would also like to thank the Shaperoom and Label Sphere for their work in the event village and artists area, as well as our media partners Elow, Virgin Radio and Surf Session. Finally we'd like to thank the World Surf League for their interest in our event and the potential international exposure we could have got if the conditions played nice. It's bad luck this time but we'll be back next year!"
