Six-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) has withdrawn from the Vans US Open of Surfing -- her third consecutive missed event -- due to an injury she suffered during a freesurf at the Drug Award Margaret River Pro. WSL injury replacement Keely Andrew (AUS) will again surf in her place.
During the Fiji Women's Pro, Gilmore checked in with the WSL broadcast via video chat to provide an update on her injury.
Gilmore stated during the Fiji Women's Pro that she expected to be back in the water within a matter of weeks, but her withdrawal from the US Open suggests she still has some recovery ahead of her before returning to competition.
The reigning Champ is currently ranked No. 8 on the Jeep Leaderboard and will count another injury result for the US Open, an event at which she finished runner-up in 2014.
