Stop No.3 of 5 of the European Junior Qualifying series, the Peña Txuri Junior Pro Sopela will unfold from July 23-26, 2015 in the Basque Country.
Stop No.3 of 5 in the 2015 European Junior Qualifying Series, the Peña Txuri Junior Pro Sopela is set to commence this Thursday and anticipates small to medium clean conditions for the four-day waiting period.
An exciting new season amongst the WSL European Juniors which started in Portugal in April and June, now travels North to the Basque Country for one of the highly anticipated events of the tour, the Peña Txuri Junior Pro Sopela.
Traditionally the most attended event of the series, 2015 will confirm the new breed of surfing talent in Europe keeps growing with over 160 athletes, including a record number of women implying a new competition format.
"The Peña Txuri Junior Pro Sopela is always an awesome event for all the surfers and people involved," Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager stated. "The tour is really exciting this season and I'm sure Sopela will come to confirm more and more surfers can get into title contention and potential qualification for the World Juniors."
Both ranking leaders Natxo Gonzalez (EUK) and Teresa Bonvalot (PRT) have an early but solid lead on their competition; however the rest of the field is in a tight battle for the podium spots and an early exit from one of the top surfers could shuffle up the rankings dramatically before the final two events of the season.
