The 2014/2015 Big Wave World Champion Makuakai Rothman (HAW) flew half way around the world to compete and ultimately win the Quiksilver Ceremonial at Chile's Punta de Lobos.
With contest directors electing to hold the contest over two days to maximize the swell, Rothman was unable to be at the Big Wave Awards. So the WSL decided to fly his trophy all the way from headquarters in California to officially present the reigning World Champion with his trophy.
